At this stage, a belt conveyor transports the pellets into a cooler. Air pulled through the cooler cools, dries, and hardens the pellets making them resistant to spoilage and breakage. The pellets are then discharged into a shaker which is a fines removal system. Fines are small particles of alfalfa, bermuda, or corn that are byproducts of the pelleting process.
Pellets are stored separately for bulk (unpackaged) sales and packaging.
